The Nevada Building Hope Foundation, (NBHF) is a USA based nonprofit 501 (c) 3 Organization with the IRS. Working side by side and in collaboration with our partner, The Grand Amazon Lodge, our primary mission is to improve the lives of the people living in Ayacucho, San Juan de Yanayacu and Junin Villages. These three river communities are located on a tributary of the Amazon in the Peruvian Rainforest. We provide educational programs, schools, medical missions, humanitarian aid to the women and children as well as self-sustaining arts programs to the people living in this remote and isolated part of the world.

GRAND AMAZON LODGE, PERU.

Grand Amazon Lodge is the furthest lodge on the Yanayacu river. It is located on a remote part of the part river thus limiting the noise of traffic passing by the lodge. Grand Amazon Lodge is five years old and the newest lodge in the area. It was constructed with conservation and sustainability principles in mind, such as solar panels, and internet. Due to the location and capabilities the lodge, Grand Amazon Lodge was chosen by the Discovery channel for their recent production of Naked and Afraid show. Grand Amazon lodge was founded by five scientists, Patrizia Marchese, Yair Aizenman, their sons Dani and Gabriel Aizenman and Peruvian biologist, Alfredo Dosantos.

Patrizia Marchese, PhD and her husband Yair Aizenman, PhD, met 32 years ago at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California.  Patrizia is a senior staff scientist at Scripps, focusing on Thrombosis and Hemostasis and Neuroscience while Yair, a Neuroscientist, is currently writing a book on how the brain create happiness, love, and morality.

Dani Aizenman holds a master’s degree in Conservation Biology focusing on ecotourism and environmental and animal conservation. Dani is currently in medical school in Florida and upon graduation plans to lead medical missions and give first-hand care to the locals living in the area. Dani is a Board Member of the Nevada Building Hope Foundation.

Gabriel Aizenan holds a BS in Computer Science and supports Grand Amazon Lodge with its website and media communication. The Peruvian partner of Grand Amazon Lodge is Alfredo Dosantos, a biologist, and a native of Iquitos, Peru. Alfredo is one of the most recognized and respected Amazonian biologist and naturalist in the Amazon. He has a deep understanding of the rainforest and all that lives there. Alfredo has been the field biologist for numerous Amazonian research projects which his expertise is unmatched by anyone in the Peruvian Amazon.

The Nevada Building Hope Foundation, the University of Nevada, Reno, Tulane University and others major research institutions, call Grand Amazon Lodge its home while conducting research projects or doing life changing projects in the Amazon. With the support of Grand Amazon, we have designed educational programs, distributed school supplies to all village teachers, built the first high school in the area, supported the local women artisans, conducted medical missions including creating an antivenom (still in progress) for poisonous snake bites. Currently we are working on a clean water Project. With the support of GVA Engineering large tanks will be placed in the communities providing the people with clean water to drink. It has been estimated that 80% of all health problems seen in the local communities are caused by the people drinking the dirty river water. Alfredo Dosantos will lead and guide the engineers with this life changing project.
